Poynette is located in the south-central part of Wisconsin approximately 25 miles north of the state capitol, Madison. The city has a population of about 2,800 citizens. The "Poynette...Naturally" motto describes the recreational and lifestyle options available in Poynette. Located in the rolling glacial hills just south of the Baraboo range and the Old Military Highway connecting forts at Green Bay and Prairie du Chein, Poynette residents enjoy a picturesque setting. Poynette is in the heart of the Lake Wisconsin Recreational Area.
